CROSSING THE BORDERS: MEDIA PODCAST is a pilot project initiated by the non-profit organization LGBT World Beside. Our organization supports LGBTQIA+ refugees and asylum seekers from Eastern Europe and Central Asia in their efforts to socialize and adapt. This project focuses on the lives and narratives of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Europe, aiming to bridge the gaps between social groups. We believe that a podcast in the form of journalistic interviews can significantly contribute to this important cause.
The primary goal of the project is to provide hope to the LGBTQIA+ community during challenging times by highlighting the transformative potential inherent in each individual. We aim to show that those who may have previously held doubts about the LGBTQIA+ community can change their perspectives and embrace new viewpoints.
Similarly, as social norms evolve, members of the LGBTQIA+ community should not feel confined to associating only with their own groups. This conviction is supported by first-hand accounts presented through journalistic interviews. We firmly believe that every individual has intrinsic social value and contributes to the richness of cultural diversity.
To this end, we have decided to create a small pilot project to record interviews, co-funded by the European Union. The European Cultural Foundation enhances the European spirit by developing and supporting cultural initiatives that allow us to share, experience, and envision Europe.

“LGBT World Beside” is a vibrant community dedicated to uplifting LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees currently residing in the Netherlands, providing vital support to those fleeing persecution in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

From enlightening lectures and enriching workshops to joyful gatherings and meaningful community engagements, we strive to create spaces where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
Advocacy in Action: We are passionate advocates for change, amplifying the voices of those who are often silenced and marginalized. Through strategic advocacy and meaningful dialogue, we work tirelessly to dismantle barriers, challenge injustices, and create a more equitable society for all.
One of LGBT World Beside's main objectives is to increase public awareness of the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals in EU refugee camps. This critical issue is often overlooked or misrepresented by mainstream media, perpetuating negative stereotypes about migrants. We are committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of all individuals, even amid the migration crisis.
The project will be executed using professional interview techniques and podcast recording technologies, including possibilities provided by digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. We are also striving to broaden the geographical diversity of our guests.
